The Opposite of Capitalism is not Socialism

The opposite of capitalism is not socialism or communism it’s community and relationship.

Capitalism = transactional.  If I have enough money I can get what I want, even if I’m an ar$ehole.  It doesn’t matter how unpleasant I am as a human, if I have the bank balance, I get what I want. That’s how capitalism works because it is purely transactional.  We have taken the relational element out of commerce.

Where is in communities, if I’m an ar$ehole, people won’t trade with me.  If I’m unpleasant people will avoid me and it won’t matter how much money I have, I can’t get anything I want unless I choose to build relationships.

We have essentially taken the relational element out of commerce, which means that we measure everything’s value in terms of monetary return.   And do you know what makes money?  Conflict, sickness, finite resources.  Do you know what doesn’t make money?  Health, peace, energy sources like the sun.

The opposite of capitalism is nor socialism, it’s relationship.

  • If someone doesn’t want to sell to you, they don’t have to. That has nothing to do with having a capitalist culture. Your being circumstantial and didn’t learn that anybody can make numbers dance all day, but you can’t make people. In a SOCIALIST culture, that’s when your choices become limited like your premise states. The state controls it all. Remember we fought wars over exactly what your saying we have become. If your grandad or great grandad fought in said wars and didn’t know you were related to him, he would tell you to Ef yourself for not knowing the difference.

The opposite IS communism. We’re talking about financial structure here. Not chivalry. Apples and oranges. Your wallet doesn’t hold more because you held a door open for someone else.
