Five character traits of confident people!

Confident people seem to have life so easy. They seem to sail through life, slaying dragon after dragon and sucking every ounce of marrow out of the bones of life. How do they do that?

How life pans out is 10% what happens and 90% how you respond to it

Well they start with these 5 traits first:

  1. Know your purpose.

If you want to be confident in what you are doing the first thing to know is why you’re doing it. If you’re thinking what’s the point, you’re not going to be very confident (or for that matter competent!) Find out your why and you’ll start to feel and be
more confident, because you know your raison d’etre – what you were born to do – and that will fill you with confidence.

  2. Don’t comparing yourself with others.

This is a definite no-no. Comparing yourself to others almost always results in you not feeling good enough, clever enough, beautiful enough, worthy enough! Especially when you compare you inner monologue with other people’s edited, sanitised facebook ‘showreel’.
Screw that! You are good enough. You are better than you were yesterday and that’s the only comparison you need to worry about!

  3. Focus on solutions.

Our attitude determines out altitude! How life pans out is 10% what happens and 90% how you respond to it. Life is full of challenges and problems and people pushing against us. Acknowledge that, but don’t focus on that. Focus on solutions.
Focus on how to make the problem no longer a problem. The more you do, the more you’ll overcome. The more you overcome, the more confident you will be.

  4. Take action.

The more you focus on solutions, the more you’ll see what action needs to be taken. Take action. Do something. Doing nothing does not build confidence. Doing something and seeing results builds confidence.

  5. Focus on the positive.

There is plenty of negative things we can focus on – in the world, in our towns, in our lives. Focussing on those things just drains confidence and turns you into a victim. Just like looking for solutions, focussing on the positive, the
accomplishments, the wins, the things that are working hugely changes your outlook and your self belief.

Knowing your purpose and focussing on the good will build your confidence. It’s not easy and it will take some practice, but push through, it wont take long before you start to see the fruit of your new confident self!

How do you fight the negative thoughts and feelings that you have?
